Mini One D 1.6 90hv engine warninglight

Hello, i have 2010 One D 90hp versio, last night i was accelerating from 0, my rpms were max 3000-3200, in third gear it lost all power and the engine light in yellow came that is blank/yellow. I then pulled over, turned off the engine, waited 30seconds and turned it on.

In the manual it says "motors full power not usable" (translated from finnish) and "can continue driving cautiosly, check engine soon as possible", so i drove back home about 10km 4-5miles? it had smelled strange like something burnt, any ideas or similar problems?

btw the engine was warm had driven it about 20min without problems.

First of all check under the bonnet for any obvious problems i.e oil splatters and report back. If you have a diagnostic reader see what codes are present too and we can take it from there

The system may have just had a brain fart but never the less it will need to be checked regardless as there should be a fault code stored now to see what went wrong. It could be something or it could be nothing but it's always best to have it checked out so that you don't damage the car. If there is an underlying fault then the light may well come back on when driving.
