Australia Coolant Leaks

Hi guys, I am from Brisbane, Australia. I own a 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman R60.

I have read some of the coolant leaks post from this forum. I did learn something about the cooling system on my R60. But lately I have this issue came on me, coolant leaks... I found posts that is similar to my case but not actually the same. So long story short...

I have took the car to my mechanic to have a look and he reckon the leak is from the bottom of the oil cooler (I have attached a picture).

He asked his friend who I believe work in BMW, he suggested to replace the oil cooler, also the hosing around. which I looked up on the internet, if I get every parts that he mentioned, the OEM parts is over 2~3000 dollars. (i have attached few images as well)

It doesn't seems to have much aftermarket parts specify for R60, I have seen a lot for R56 though.

Just wondering any brothers/sisters here know anywhere I can get replacement parts cheaper?
Any suggestions are welcome...

Sadly you live in a country where everything is twice the price (and a bit more) of what it is in the UK for car parts. @Milpol is based Down Under so maybe he can point you in a direction nearer to home for parts. It may also be worth checking the ebay UK auction site as a lot of traders here will ship overseas.

Fidurado , the only place I could suggest for new parts to compare pricing would be Masterparts.com.au . Your only other option would be to source from the UK as I have found its a faster turn around than ordering from the USA due to how goods are shipped there compared to British Postal services. The only downside to importing parts is the wait period for the items if its your daily driver.

Have you looked for the part number on RealOEM and input that into the likes of eBay UK ?

Just a thought, is it the oil cooler that needs replacing or just a seal component ?

Also, have you tried Pelican Parts in the USA ? they seem to have a more comprehensive list of parts and again, exchange rate ans shipping times need to be taken into account. Input your Year and exact model to look for components and pricing.

Thanks SeanC & Milpol

I have not checked the ebay UK yet. Certainly will take a look.
Some of the website when I search for R60, they came up with R56 as search result, and it still saying compatible...is it true?

And Milpol, would you suggest that I should just get the two O-Ring to test it out first? Because even the mechanic wasnn't sure where it leaks. That is why he gives all the surrounding hoses list for me...

Hi mate, from what I have read, they both use the N14 motor so I would hazard a guess that there would be a lot of common components. This would be why you keep finding a ref to the R56 stuff. An email or phone call to John at Masterparts would be helpful and I would be trying the O-rings 1st. If its similar in design on the Heat Exchanger that is used on the R53 its a definite possibility. Also inspect the heat exchanger for cracks, on the R53, they have been known to crack and leak.

I'm with Milpol here and would conduct a process of elimination and start off with the O ring as this sounds like the culprit. I very much doubt that there will be a whole host of parts will need swapped out as these systems are generally reliable with the exception of the thermostat housing (awful design and construction) The O ring should only cost you a few $ so that's where I'd be starting fidurado
