Black Volume Knob on Sat Nav

What's with the black volume knob on the additional DVD controls (those with Sat Nav).

Looks strange and the brochure clearly shows it as silver. Why make it black ???

I was surprised to see the black volume knob on the demonstrator at my dealers, as all the product literature I'd seen prior to launch had the knob in silver. Thought it looked better in silver than black, not sure why the colour has changed!?!

Will be picking up my R56 MCS in 1-2 weeks (delivered to dealer yesterday). I've specced Sat Nav, so assume I'll be getting a black volume knob!

I pick up mine on Saturday. I've got Sat Nav too.

I didn't notice it on the demo car I drove, but after seeing Popeys new MCS pic's it seemed to jump out at me.

Maybe it's a cheap way of highlighting the volume knob ?

I too would prefer it in silver though

The original photo will have been a pre-porduction mock up so things tend to change when they hit production.

There will be a reason for the change, something like either colour matching the knob to the surround, or the finish wearing with use due to it been touched, or for cost, but I guess we'll never find out.

Can someone tell me if its a got a tactile feel to it? Does it feel like its got a rubber coating? As if it has then this will be the reason, as it would be difficult to colour match that to the surround.

Good point. I was wondering that too, but then I just followed the "Mini making it cheap" train of thought

If it's not textured paint, then IMO it is probably because the silver wears off.

Wonder if the paint on the STD Boost volume knob will wear off (If it's a problem, that is)

I hope the silver finish on all buttons wears well.. correct though the black volume control does look a wee bit strange when all other controls are silver..

Any pics of the new car BTW ?

Not yet, will try to get to the dealer this week some time.

If not it's Saturday for the hand over.
