DIY Factory Bluetooth & Sony Ericsson Phones

Need some help with this one.

We have paired two different Sony Ericsson Phones (K750i and Z710i) with the car and have exactly the same problem with both.

Both phones have the latest firmware and one is on Orange and the other O2.

Everything pairs up fine and all the address book can be seen OK. The phone pairs no problem on starting the car and the 'headset' logo appears on the phone.

On an incoming call the Radio/CD ceases/pauses and you can hear the ringing on the car speakers. When you press YES on the radio display or the 'off-hook' steering wheel button you can't hear the other person. It appears to drop the call back to the phone

When making a call all is fine until its answered and then it appears to lose the call immediately.

Have read the manual over and over again and can't see anything thats been missed and cannot find any problems mentioned on Sony Ericsson's WEB site.

Please Help. It's driving us mad. Especially as the 'Other' car's factory BT works faultlessly.

Thanks

Have you checked the list of compatible phones to see if yours is on it?

Had a look around mini.co.uk and cannot find a list. Also none in the pack with the car...... any other suggestions?

They are common phones so we can't see what the problem is.

Any further assistance welcome.

Thanks

The latest list of compatible phones is here.

Bearing in mind this list is only about six months old (and hasn't been updated since) it shows how far behind the times car manufacturers are compared to mobile phone technology. A problem already being discussed in this thread.

Thanks as ever Scrogg - Great Information. We will have a good look at the other thread too.

The K750i is there so back to the drawing board!

Any idea what the functionality column indicates?

Thanks

I did ask once, but nobody seemed to know, so it was soon forgotten, sorry.

I still don't believe that the factory kit is worth the money, so have always advised people to go with alternatives and have never really discussed it in great detail.

You may find that deleting all SMS messages (inc sent) may help

On my test drive I could pair my SE K800i & receive a call once I deleted all texts.

May not help with your problem, but worth a try?!

Just An Update For This Issue.

Back to the dealers today to get the iPod connector fitted and the Bluetooth problem looked at.

They tested it all and agreed the BT did not work as specified.

Fitting the iPod needed a software / firmware upgrade on the car and after all that was done hey-presto the BT works perfectly . Even has voice activation after hitting the steering wheel button.

iPod work great

Just need to get the driver door window motor replaced (on order) and the big stone chip on the bonnet........ Does it never end????
