R56 stereo upgrades with pics

You cannot change the stereo in the R56 Mini, but you can improve on the poor sound
Speakers can be upgraded & amplifiers fittied
The Boost system can have 1 -3 amplifiers added & much better speakers fitted in the existing positions
The Hi-fi system can be improved by replacing the amplifier & speakers
A subwoofer can also be added to either system

This is the most recent R56 system I have done.
I replaced the optional hi-fi system as the sound was very poor - it can't handle bass.
Normally I hide all my amplifiers but the combination of the customer supplying their own amps & the fact that the car had every option box ticked meant that the places I normally hide amps were mostly taken
Amplifiers; 2 were fitted, one in the left boot cubby & one on the back of the seat (I normally mount these under the front seats).
Before the subwoofer & 2nd amplifier were connected we switched the system on - the difference was incredible. Big grins all round
Then we added the sub

Here are the speakers. We managed to fit the Kenwood tweeters into the factory hifi pillar mounts

It's hardly replacing like with like though is it ???

That sub takes up 40% of the bootspace! and it's bound to handle bass now with a 10-12" sub!

Do you give away a free hoodie and a copy of "Now That's What I Call Drum & Bass 2007" with every installation?

Clean upgrade Mikey! The hidden amp and front components look very nice. What size front door midbass is that?

You say there was a huge difference just by putting in the 1st amp?? could you explain further as this could be a more cost effective improvement for a lot of us....Did you replace the existing amp with a more powerful one. i guess the speakers you get with the optional hi-fi must be pretty good if just by changing the amp there was a huge improvement??

If you Read what I said - just changing the amp & speakers made a huge difference, we later added the sub & second amp

Didn't try that - will go off & test the speakers to see what the spec is (on the old HK system you couldn't run normal aftermarket speakers off the HK amp)
