Can someone confirm where the USB port is located? Planning to leave a memory stick plugged in permanently and want to make sure it won't look ugly.

Hi Ricky,

The port is under the centre console out of sight - not sure the thumb drive will be though as I imagine it will stick down. I leave the cable plugged in (one above) it doesn't bother me as it is sort and sits in the tray thing infront of the cup holders

HTH

Hi! Reviving an old thread as I just got my new MCS! I didn't get the Bluetooth option as I don't really need it, but only afterwards I realised that BT would include a USB port which could be handy for USB sticks filled with MP3s.

Found a couple of kits to retrofit an iPOD connection but I only need the USB for MP3 sticks. Does anyone know if the USB option can be retrofitted on an R56 MCS dated 2010?

I have the USB port in my new R57, tried it out today with a 2GB Sandisk Cruzer with some MP3 tracks on it, and it works fine.
However with the engine switched off and the car key out of the slot, I noticed the power to the USB port remains on and the LED light on the thumbdrive remains lit. Is this normal ? Can I leave the drive plugged in all the time or will it be a continuous drain on the car battery ?

I remember reading somewhere on this forum, that the usb sockets power down after 30 mins, the same as the radio, if you turn it on with the ignition off.
