USB and bluetooth option

Does anyone have any details of this option? Is it the same arrnagement as the BMW USB option with the aux socket and usb port? Contemplating adding it to my spec, but would like to know more

Just a few questions - as i can't get totally clarity from all the posts i've read

With this option -

1. can you play all ipod tracks - drm or otherwise - can you select albums & songs or just playlists

2.does this charge the ipod too?

3.can you control the ipod via the MFSW

4.what is displayed on the headunit screen?

5. do i require this and the dealer fit ipod interface?

cheers

1. Yes you can play all tracks if you have the BMW ipod connector lead. You get exactly the same control as the ipod's click wheel and you can select by artist, song, album, genire, and playlist.

2. Yes

3. Yes the MFSW allows you to skip between tracks and control the volume

4. See Picture below for sat nav version.

5. No

Hope this helps

One more question about this honest!! - where is the USB port located? - under the centre console next to the AUX in or in the arm rest? or somewhere else?

What is displayed on the ipod when connected?
Can you still select tracks in coverflow if it is a new ipod/iphone?
Where is the AUX port located?

Thanks.

Can the USB port be retrofitted to the boost system, or do you have to get the whole
bluetooth option OR is it impossible to retrofit either the usb and the bluetooth option?
Phew long question .

memnon.

I just got my new R56 Mini Cooper in the US, with the Bluetooth option. It didn't come with the USB connector though. Is the USB option only for the UK?

Only 2008 U.S. spec MINIs will have the USB port (and only when you order Bluetooth prep). The rest of the world started getting what we yanks call 2008 models waaay back in August. It's only North America (AFAIK) that got screwed on the new model releases. Probably had something to do with the release of the new 2008 Clubman MINI.

2008 U.S. spec MINIs will start being built in December and will begin showing up over in the U.S. in Jan or Feb depending upon your location (i.e. East coast or West coast).
