So ive just ordered the mini armrest yesterday. Has anyone fitted it after you got the car, is it easy to attach yourself?

I think you will also need a new "center thing" with the holes to mount it to, could be wrong tho,

However I have the arm rest and its a total pain on the bum and is made for about 50p and looks it, I would pay to have mine removed if I wasnt so tight.

Does it looks bolted into the floor, or attached to the center console. Im hoping i do not have to rip it out

Its mounted to the center console. Have a look at this:

RealOEM.COM * Part Category Selection.

From what I can see you might need to change a few parts.

I got one from my dealer a couple of months ago - it sits either side of the centre console if its the same as mine. just undo the bolt at the back of each seat rail (nearest the centre console ) and as you lift the rail up, push the armrest legs underneath - the seat rail will drop into a coupld of holes when you've got it in right and then just bolt the rails back down again. takes a bit of effort but it is easy!

I could be wrong but I thought there are two types of arm-rest. The one is the factorty fitted option and the second is the aftermarket version.

Both are oem Mini parts, cost you and arm and leg and does not do much. I have the factory fitted one an whenever I place my arm/elbow on it and not with much force, it alreay feels as if it will snap any second. The armrest is fairly cheap made and unless you are dying for it I would suggest you to spend the money elsewhere!

I have to agree with the opinions above - I specced quite a lot of extra stuff, and just chucked the armrest in without giving it a lot of thought. Now I never use it, and its the one extra I wish I hadn't bothered with...

This one was a cinch to install; just needed a T-40 bit.
The advantage to this type is that it opens clamshell fashion rather than slide fashion. Therefore it doesn't open unintended while shifting, etc.

It's in my R56 now...
I'll try to remember to take a picture.
Great place for sunglasses and it doesn't ruin the cup-holder. It's just a scootch too far forward for me, but I'm really tall.
Don't lean too hard on it until you tighten the two torx bits in back of it.

Safety fast,
Bill

I don't at the mo, but I'll try and get some later if I can

I think it was about £80 which I was chuffed with, as they told me it was about £99 when I phoned up to ask - I ordered it through my dealer
