I am planning to mine soon been behind the stereo already fitted handsfree but at that point I wasnt bothered about subs etc. However got some extra cash so want to do an amp and sub soon.
to get behind the radio you will have to take the speedo out and to get that out you will have to take both sides of the dash and centre console out i did when i wired up my subs in
to get the speedo out is a lot of work lots of screws and parts to remove and you will need a wireing harness for the mini radio to make a sub work through it , this is what mine was like to get out ( pic 3 )
but i put a normal radio in the storage compartment ( pic 2 ) as i have a custom boot build so wanted a uprated radio for more power and more settings on for the system ( pic 1 )
So does it take a lot of work to fit the second stereo in the storage compartment, Or was it removing a cable and putting a cable in? Is there somewhere where I can find out more about this or is it simple when I get stuck into it?
- To be honest I want to fit the sub but will use my ipod and am thinking I can set the sub to work straight off the ipod can't I using phono input? Because that could be easier?
- Thanks Again.
fitting a radio in the storage compartment is a big job its a total re wire as you cant use the wireing from the mini radio the easyest way will be to get the after market wireing harnes like the one on the new mini stuff site but no mater what you will have to take the speedo out to get to the back of the radio as a sub will need a amp which will need wireing into the radio so it knows when to go on and switch off as for phono input from an ipod it could be done but i think the sound quality will suffer a bit
