Goodmorning!
I'm Marco, I'm italian (for this reason sorry for my bad english).
I own a MINI r56 Cooper D, but I've a problem.
I have half OBC. I can see digital speed, temperature, service info, check info, car-settings. But I haven't avg speed, aavg & realtime fuel consumption and estimate of range.
I went in 2 BMW/MINI center, but both says me that's impossible to activate aftermarket.
It's true? I think it's only disactivated, because I can see range, but only when fuel indicator becomes red, for this reason I think it's just hidden.
I hope in some good news from you...
Thank you very much, goodbye!!
the guy is asking if....because you get '31mls' come up (or whatever) when you get to one bar....even tho he DIDNT spec OBC.....there must be some sort of computer to work this out (as it changes in realtime to your driving habbits) so, is does the car have an OBC that simply isnt activated.
like on Sony, JVC dvd players etc. the same hardware is there on the cheep ones apposed to the expensive ones but the cheeper ones dont have as advanced software if you get my drift.
i know you can...the point is...as a bove...there must be some function/computer to work this out...is it the same computer with just this feature enabled and the rest of the fuctions disabled.....or is a different computer all together?
if its the same computer.....thearetically you should beable to enable it.
I haven't OBC in my optionals.
Without OBC you can see only digital speed, temperature, car settings and Check/servise info.
In my old r53 I've activated OBC aftermarket in bmw, for 25 euros (for a simple cable).
In r56 I'm sure that's only hidden, because with the cheat of the secret menu you can see ALL, range, consumption, avg speed, ALL, but it's complicated to activate all the time.
A year has passed since this thread came up and I just stumbled on it after Googling to see if it's possible to after-market enable/install the OBC on an R56.
Does anyone know the answer to the above? Or whether it really is just a software update to enable the fuel computer on an R56 that wasn't specced with the full OBC ?
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I don't have the on-board computer as it wasn't specced...
What I was asking is whether anyone knows if it's possible to retrofit this feature into a Mini that didn't originally have it - whether it's just a software flash or whether it requires physical items as well.
