Retrofit OEM Sat Nav

Just wondering (possible future project) if anyone's retrofitted an OEM sat nav to an R56 - there are threads on Gen 1 Mini's but nothing for R56's. Is this possible, and how hard is it?

Me dealer said it could be done but would be at least twice the cost of the factory option, so about 3000 to you sir and would you like me to pull your pants up when I'm done .

Do you wish you had gone for it now, its a hard box to tick on the options list.

TBO, I really do like the look of the sat nav on the R56's - it look soooo much better than the crappy silver plastic buttons over the normal speedo...BUT I could never justify spending a ridiculous 1500 on a good looking tomtom no matter how awesome it looks. So I defo will not be paying 3000

I was actually thinking about searching some scrappies for one along with the centre console...I reckon around 2k of the 3k would be the labour charges so if I did the job myself that'd be a massive saving and if I did eventually find one in the scrapyard I'd probably pick it up for 150 - 200 if I took it out myself! The only probs would be the software and electrics...

I doubt you will find it that cheap but it would be worth a look. Most junk yards know the cost of systems like that and don't let them go cheap any longer.

You might be right but if I was to take the sat nav out, that saves them a reasonably large job!

By the way it is not just the speedo that needs to be changed.

1. Console Wiring Harness
2. Radio/CD system
3. Console Plastics
4. Bluetooth Module (if currently installed)
4. about 16-20 hours in labor.
