My pleasure! If you see anything that needs a correction, or have any additions, I'm happy to add them. It's pretty US centric, so anything to make it more useful to everyone is welcome.
I have just got a new mini with basic bluetooth and also have an iphone, i am experienceing the same issues with not being able to call my contacts via the voice control, for the people that have manually saved there numbers into the car how do you do this, i have read the instructions and tried to follow them but im not getting far.
I am about to order a new mini cooper and was wondering what I need to use and charge my iphone4 in this car using basic Bluetooth and USB package any tips most appreciated
Hi, I have the iPhone 4 and my steering wheel controls work with it, all you need is a y lead also known as a iPhone interface lead, 40 quid from the dealer, I got mine from eBay for 20, the song names etc are all shown and you can use all the functions with the stereo, you may find you run into the same issue with the voice dialing though!!!
It is worthwhile noting that if you order a new 2011 Mini with Sat Nav, full bluetooth and mini connected etc that the normal white cable you get with the Iphone/Ipod works perfectly well without issues. In fact using the old BMW Y cable does not give you the full range of facilities in that you do not get display of the album artwork on the sat nav display.
Is it possible to connect and android device (galaxy S2) through usb or bluetooth (for music and phone calls) with the basic usb/bluetooth? Can you scroll though the tracks and the phone book withou the mini connected?
With a GS2 you can connect as a phone, access the address book, make calls etc, and charge through the USB, but you can't play your phone's music through the speakers or route navigation sound through the them. Massive shame.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
