Basic Bluetooth with Blackberry Storm 9500

I can't seem to connect my BB storm (v4.7.0.78) with my basic bluetooth. I've read the thread on NAM but one guy says he's connected his. (I'd ask on NAM but my new membership has a fault - can't seem to reply/pm/look at anything while logged in and no reply from admin).

Aparantly versions: 4.7.0.65 and 4.7.0.75 work according to the american compatibility list (where's the UK one?).

Anyone have similar problems or any ideas what I'm doing wrong... thanks

Just an idea not tablets of stone, but how long is the passkey you're trying to use? As when I paired my Blackberry Bold I needed to use a key longer or equal to 5 characters. Worth a shot. Is it actually finding the car?

Whack it on the American software, the guy in my local Carphone Warehouse was telling me he did this with his curve as the American software was more stable.

Would the american software work with all the uk apps tho? surely it'd default to us maps when using gps?

TBH it wouldn't really be my favourite option but if all else fails I'll certainly consider it!

You should be able to use UK maps, otherwise it would be of no use when traveling to the UK from the US!!!

I keep the list updated with reports for NAM and Mini2- but it's not too often that I see any posts on Bluetooth over here. I've only been keeping track since about April '07.

Sometimes a hard phone reset (pulling the battery completely out) can help, and I've also seen reports where people had problems until they deleted the pairing from both the car and the phone before attempting pairing again.

Curious if your cell works with the Second Gen MINI?

I've already deleted the pairing links from the phone and car, but I'll give the reset a go in the morning... thanks

Troy I guess your right about the maps compatibility, I'm still a touch hesitant of using foreign software though - I wonder why the US software has different content than UK? Maybe the FBI can listen in to all their calls?!?...

Over here the software can vary based on the carrier too- lots of people upgrade to the original RIM software to avoid vendor specific stuff. It may be similar for UK carriers?

The storm is only available on vodafone so I'm guessing there's only vodafone software and possibly an original RIM version, but wouldn't surprise me if vodafone has limited the rights to software under their name...!? I'll have to have a search...

Yeah, I'm slowly getting that idea!

Crashing randomly, ending incoming calls when I press pick up... hopefully BB have a software upgrade coming soon - I looked into the US non official upgrades but not sure whether I'd trust their stability?!

I wouldn't go with a non official one to be honest. Personally I'm not a big fan of the Storm, my friend who has one says his crashes all the time though. My Bold has only crashed once when my friend with the Storm used it, maybe they carry diseases!!!
