| IPhone and ipod cable Hello, I have a 2007 S Works (R56) fitted with the official Mini ipod connector and factory satnav. Does anyone know if the current iphone works ok with this, ie just works fine but doesn't charge, or both works and charges. Do all of the music menus come up on the nav screen as they currently do with me itouch? Also, I am thinking of waiting until next week for the brand new iphone that is launched - does anyone know if this will work? Thanks! |

Hi I just picked up my new mini cooper s last week, dealer showed me how the iphone works and charges, music and phone list both show up on the screen. Looks like it is very easy to use. Although like u I am going to get the new iphone when it comes out on 19th, does anyone know if i have to buy the cable from BMW or is it just a standard cable that i can get from somewhere else? Thanks |

| The cable that MINIs need to control the iPhone isn't a standard cable. The MINI USB port uses the older serial accessory protocol instead of the newer that actually uses the USB port. The cable supplied by MINI/BMW has a serial to USB adapter built into it, and I don't believe that anyone has found an aftermarket supplier for it. There's a few that look like it, but don't include the USB/Serial converter. There's a pretty long thread where people are looking for them here. Since the MINI only speaks the older protocol, I don't think the new iPhone would work any differently from the current phones. Curious if your cell works with the Second Gen MINI? | When the iPhone 3Gs were first released, they had a problem charging because the MINI doesn't put out enough current. I've heard that an updated USB Y-cable has been released that fixes the problem for the newer devices, but for the secret-compartment based iPod adapter you'd need a converter like this one. The iPhone 3G connection is the same as the 4th gen Nano and the 2nd gen iPod Touch. So, if you have one of those and it's working, then everything should work fine! If not, the converter should do the trick. Curious if your cell works with the Second Gen MINI? See the R56 MINI Bluetooth Cell Compatibility Matrix |

| There's also an early upgrade fee option, or an early contract termination. Here's some more details on all the different fees. Curious if your cell works with the Second Gen MINI? See the R56 MINI Bluetooth Cell Compatibility Matrix |
