OK... Nuvi 1340T arrived today, neat bit of kit and very reasonable at satnaveasy It has "lifetime traffic" via the FM traffic master system, there is a small FM antenna with a small 3.5mm headphone jack type connector that plugs into the 'out of the box' power cable.. My question is, as my car does not arrive until next week is, does the cradle the dealer is fitting for me accomodate this FM antenna to pick up the traffice reports?? I will be annoyed if not as 'Traffic' was a fundamental part of my requirements

If you are having the official BMW MINI mount fitted then I am affraid that the sat nav you have bought will not be able to use the in built usb power lead that MINI wire in directly to save you having to trail a lead across to the cig lighter socket, the 'T' versions use a different connector on the sat nav unit. Otherwise the sat nav it'e self will fit on to the mount. I dont need to make my car go faster, I just need to learn to drive it faster.

They are talking rubbish. There system will probably still show the part number for the original static sat nav bracket, which as been discontinued. The new adjustable one is still available. Contact someone like Derek Woodman MIMI, they are site sponsors and have a very good reputation. I dont need to make my car go faster, I just need to learn to drive it faster.

I got thr MINI Portable Navigation System with the above part number and have left it with the dealer for him to fit. In the meantime I am wondering which nav unit to fit? The outside of the box mentions a couple. the nuvi 205,255, 265,1250, and 550 from memory as I don't have the box. I didn't see any instructions, unless they are on the SD card, and the box doesnt' mention anything about the TOM TOM adapter which I assume is the other black disc thing. Which navs should I be looking at? The Ecoroute seems like a good idea, as does lane changing. Which TOM TOM? They will have to pick their power up from the mini-usb plug that is hard wired in.

| I picked one up from the dealer this week, going to see if its practical to use with a Garmin device with the traffic antennea I think its unlikely and will end up having it hard wired with the cables coming out at the base of the windscreen getting it looked at tomorrow...Just spoken with Garmin Customer Services... the antennae is not always needed, as the unit has a biult in reciever, its to be used in low FM signal strength areas so I will try with with the BMW cradle and report back on the effectiveness of the built in reciever....
