Removing upper glovebox 'secret compartment'

I have a 57 MCS with dealer fitted ipod interface. Recently a very irritating rattle has developed (as with many people!) somewhere in the dash in the region of the upper glovebox where the ipod connector sits. I suspect maybe it's the cable that was dealer installed rattling on something behind the compartment. I can't work out how to slide the compartment out so I can look behind without major dashboard unscrewing which I'm keen to avoid. Does anyone have any ideas?

it takes some getting out as its attached at the bottom of the cubby hole the only way is to take the hole side of the dash out to get behind the cubby hole to push it out not a quick fix realy

Thanks for that - does sound like a bit of a nightmare. Have managed to slide some foam sheet down on the top of it from the front which seems to have stopped the rattle (for the moment). Not the best solution but it works!
