My first post, and a call for help. I have my 07' R56
MCS, and as most of you would appreciate I couldn't stand the dismal Boost audio system for more than a week. It was really a step down after having an Alpine / MB Quart system!
Has anyone experienced issues with fitting a new audio system, and getting random electrical type noises through the system?
Have now invested in a stealth solution featuring all new kit - however retaining that awful boost system at the front end. Didnt want to mess with the dash.
Kit features all new Alpine Reference 2 way 6" splits in the doors, Boston FX6 6" coaxial in the back (had these laying around), Alpines new PDX-4.150 slim but beastly Power amp, an Alpine 10" S class Sub with the sub driven by a Zapco (US made) Studio 150 Power amp running bridged. The device tying it altogether is Alpine's new Imprint EQ system with Audyssey EQ on board.
All component devices including the sub are mounting in a new custom flush panel floor in the boot, elevated about 100mm off the bottom of the car. The sub enclosure consumes the tool kit well. Looks great.
The Audyssey does a great job at taking the high level speaker and processing it, HOWEVER I HAVE ISSUES......
I have 4 types of noises.
1. A massive thump through the system when the door / boot key is pressed, or shortly after. OR
2. Crackling via the speaker system after you put key in ignition.
3. Low audible hum through rear speakers (not sub..and not your typical sub hum)
4.Typical road noise (like the turbo whine), perhaps supression might fix it.
Worse thing is it is random and happens generally after the car has been sitting a while, and you go to get in it, like first thing in the morning. Its like a discharge or something occurs.
It was real bad until we re-set the Imprint unit, but its still there as above. I should mention here the Imprint is set to sensing turn on, BUT when the remote is pressed to open a door or something, it must send some sort of audible pulse that does wake the imprint and amps up. So regardless of the key in or not, as long as the vehicle is open the imprint and amps will stay on and time out for 5 mins.
Can anyone advise if they have had any unusual electrical interference noises through the mini's audio systems including after market?
Cheers,
