Glasses/Sunglasses Holder

I have just upgraded from an old Renault, but a feature I really miss from it was the sunglasses holder above the drivers door where a handle would usually be. This stored my glasses for driving and avoided a lot of fiddling around in cases like I do now.

Now, my Mini has a side-visor above the drivers door, and I was wondering of any solutions for easy access to my glasses? I do not fancy these 'visor clips' that are on ebay as these protrude from the sun visor and subject the glasses to dust.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I like to keep mine in the storage area below the door armrest, but then they are always in a case.

That sunvisor is interchangable with the passenger 'assist' handle, perhaps you could find something to fasten (using same screw holes) in place of it to hold the glasses.

I actually kept the sunglasses holder from my old car which went where the grab handle would go, but it does not look like it will fit, the holes are too far apart. Is there a standard size for these handles (screw width apart) or am I just seeing it wrong?

I would be surprised if there were a 'standard' for those.

One in my wife's Toyota looks 'about' an inch longer than the one in my MINI (but the screws are hidden).

Just drill one new hole (in the sunglass holder) to make it fit....

Isn't it frustrating how no one car is ever exactly right - there's always something missing or ergonomically wrong. My wifes Kia turns all the lights off when you remove the key but the steering wheel stalks are on the opposite sides. My Merc had no dash warning light to say you had headlights on (neither does my Dooper!) so you had to peer down towards the footwell. Kia has a usable console / storage area under armrest - Mini doesn't. Kia has a nice sunglasses holder built into the reading lights console. The list goes on....
