Does anyone have a working 32 or 64 gb USB stick in the mini (Recommendations needed)

Excuse me for sounding completely ignorant, but r u saying that a person can simply connect a USB drive with some MP3s on it and the MINI will recognize them and play them?

I have a iPod Y connector, but I didn't know that you could just put in a USB flash drive into the USB connector...

Mp3, WMA, AAC and more.
It also reads playlists.
I've not tried copy protected music but I think this is no more anyway

I hope someone can explain this problem to me. I've loaded up my memory stick with folders of artists e.g

Adele
Coldplay
Noel Galagher
Timbaland

and I can see these in the directory on the display in the car. I can select, for example, Coldplay and I can see the album name, I can select this and see the song list, BUT as soon as I try and select ANY song it will NOT allow me to select it?????

Please, can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I can however, select any song from the entire album but only in alpabetical order....it's doing my head right in!!

Car is a 2008 JCW with bluetooth.

I am having a very similar problem with my 2012 Cooper Hardtop. It doesn't matter what USB I use, it doesn't matter which artist it is, Ginger (my MINI's name) will just stop playing the songs, it's like it gets 'stuck' and then the whole stereo goes silent.

I'm working with the dealership right now, I'll let you know what I find out. *crossing my fingers*

What I've found works best is using the Directory browse option.

I put one folder for each letter of the alphabet on my flash drive, then I make sub-folders within each lettered folder for separate artists. It might sound time consuming, but it's really not, especially if you consider how much time you'll save when browsing behind the wheel.

Best of all - the directory browse option is the first to appear when you start the car, so that's pretty much available right away.

All of my music files are encoded as AAC files (.m4a files), like what you get from the iTunes Store. I've found that MINI radios are part of a very exclusive group of OEM head units that actually support AAC encoding.

Also, don't forget - any USB flash drive must be reformatted to the FAT file system. Not all USB drives come formatted that way, so it's always best to just go ahead and reformat it when you first get it.
