iPhone 3G

Hello guys and girls.

It's been a while since I've been on this site - but thought this would be the best place for help with a little issue I'm getting with my Cooper S and iPhone 3G.

I have done a search within the forum to see if there was something on here that was the same issue as mine, but couldn't find anything.

So here we go .

I’ve been using an iPod Touch 2Gen for my music within the car and this was working excellent – no problems what so ever (well I did have to buy the adapter to get the charging facility to work) – but I have now got myself an iPhone 3G and on connecting it to my car to use as an iPod the iPod interface doesn’t recognize it (in phone or flight mode). On connecting the iPhone there is a warning message popping up on the phone – saying I might loose audio quality due to the device been a phone (or something like that).

Has anyone else seen/heard of this problem?

The connection for the iPod/iPhone was fitted in the dealership when I got the car in 2008 and it’s hidden within the glove box.

Thanks

You mentioned an adapter - I take it you not referring to the snap-in armrest adapter - my 3G works fine through that but does get the 'this device not supported' message on the phone itself. it does work and charge and passes audio through the adapter (6NE?). I don't have the glove box adapter as the snap-in took care of all that.

Hi Timp, thanks for you quick response.

The adapter I have is the Scosche Passport Charging Adapter Scosche Passport Charging Adapter.

I don't have the armrest or bluetooth - when I got the car I just got the dealership to add the iPod interface for the cheapest option.

Do you think that the adapter 6NE work with the cable within the glove box - or do you know where I could find more information about the 6NE adapter?

Thanks again

The 6NE is an extra cable that runs to the armrest snap-in - it may also be some extra electronics too, dunno. I think without the Mini stuff you're gonna be limited to what your existing adapter provides - or at least unless you're up for spending more dosh!
