Can visual boost be retrofitted to new 2011 MY Cooper s?
Hi Newbie here and first post. Waiting to pick up my first ever mini on Thursday, should have been Saturday but had to cancel due to snow
I bought my new cooper s straight out the showroom because i got such a good deal on it rather than do a factory order and besides it had everything i wanted bar the sun protection glass and the visual boost. Just wondering if it's possible to have the visual boost unit retrofitted... Anybody know if it's possible.
Good question. I did mine as a factory order, but thought I save some money and go for the Radio Boost CD. I thought they would be the same, only with a different display, but later on I found out that with your PDC you would get a visual feedback with the Visual Boost as well. And you can see Album Art and would be able to watch videos from your iPod or iPhone. So I'm still not sure if I had made the right decision there. Time will tell.
It would be good to know if I could chance it later on to the Visual Boost, in case I regret my decision.
I've ordered the Full Bluetooth Pack, so everything but the MINI Connected and the SatNav would work.
I have an 07 Cooper S fitted with boost sound system and would like to upgrade it to the visual boost. I took my speedo / c.d player unit out a while back and thought maybe it could simply be swaped for the visual unit (with a few extra wires).
Hi there, sorry to drag up an old post but I am wondering if anyone did get visual boost retrofitted into their MINI?
I have received a 2014, I got a cooper with a pepper pack as I thought that had everything I needed. I would have liked a bigger screen on the radio but I thought you could only get that with the media pack and that was outwith my budget. So I put my old car into the dealers to get paint work touched up and they gave me courtesy car for the day which had the visual boost radio and I loved it! But it wasn't until after I picked my car up I released you could add this on for only £260 which I definitely would have done had I known this. I am going to contact my dealer and ask if we could speak about adding it in but I am wondering if anyone has done and how much it cost. Thanks
Be prepared a figure many times the £260 if the dealer will quote at all. It is not simply a case of adding on the screen as you need a new speedo and the joystick controller (like for the satnav option) behind the gearstick as well, plus some serious programming. I expect them to say that this cannot be retrofitted.
I am actually attempting this right now. I acquired all of the parts, minus the wiring from ebay.
I ordered one CCC-radio to NAV screen cable from Mini.
I am trying to find any wiring info and or pics of anyone else trying it. If you have any info or help, please add. I know that the Speedo works fine and plugs right in. The Visual Boost Radio plugs in and functions fine, but I don't have the screen yet- Friday. THe cd player, am/fm radio works without any modification of the factory wiring harness so far.
That's good, you will have to let us know how you get on. What are you going to do about the joystick parts beside the gear stick? I thought putting the screen in would be simple enough but that the joystick and buttons might be hard.
