2010 MCS Sat Nav add-on

Hi

I purchased a new mini cooper s at the end of last year with Visual boost radio and mini connected. Just wondered as I have the screen if its possible to add Sat Nav to this setup? If so how do I do it and where can I get it from?

Thanks in advance.

Well no doubt it will be possible but I think you might be surprised at what it entails. The new navigation system CHAMP is integrated within the DVD/CD drive but is now flash based. You will need a CHAMP unit to replace your current DVD/CD drive unit. Source Mini Delaer cost £100s ~ I would guess around 400 -500. You will then need a different wiring harness as the Sat Nav requires connections to a GPS aerial (which you also don't have and will need.) plus CAN bus connections to get vehicle speed and whether the car is in reverse or not. I think there is also a feed to indicate whether the handbrake is on. Again the only source for these is Mini dealer. I think from looking at the parts system there might be some difference in control units that you would need too. Fitting all this is not a trivial task and not for the faint hearted. It might alse be necessary for the car to be recoded (can only be done by Mini dealer) once it is all fitted to get it all to work.
