Standard speaker setup in LCI/Facelift 2011 car?

Hi Everyone

I'm thinking about ordering a new clubman. It's a really good spec that I'm looking to buy inc media, vision, chili etc etc but I haven't specced the HK sound system.

Is this a big mistake or is the usual system ok?

Clearly the HK will be better than the standard but for a non-audiophile is the standard speaker system reasonable enough?

I'm a kind of Radio 4 in the morning (DAB hopefully!) on the way to work and possibly Scott Mills in the afternoon or a 'funk, soul classics' kind of CD maybe.

I also like to be able to listen to Radio 4 or 5 Live (again in DAB) when on the motorway doing 70 or so, without having to have the radio on full bore!

Not too much Dance/RnB/D&B etc.

Thanks

The standard system is really gud

I had a R56 MINI One - my 1st car

Being Young i had the windows down and music blaring out

Yes the standard speakers are really gud

But i have ordered a 2011 JCW and i specced HK system as the it has tweeters (Its for the treble) and separate speakers for bass etc

They HK system is a MUST - Your mini will have 10 speakers

Mini is very quite on motorway anyway

I hope this help

Advice from a 22 year old

I've upgraded the standard factory fit speakers in my 2010 Clubman to Rockford Fosgate. The sound quality is so much better. Have tried the HK set up and to be honest, dont waste your money on it. Get 4 decent aftermarket speakers and you wont regret it. Next up on the to do list will be a 4 channel amp for some extra welly.

In my opinion the standard system is utter dog S**t! if your really appreciate music, then you will tire of the way the standard system distorts and has no warmth to the sound or any power, in my opinion its appalling considering a mini is one of the more expensive cars in its class.

However, i have a mini one with HK system, its utterly amazing, true there isn't a sub in the car, but the bass from the low door speakers and the 6x9's in the back is more than enough, the system is utterly relentless and wont distort even when the volume wont go any higher.

as for leaving it standard and upgrading the speakers after.... its up to you, personally the price of the HK compared to the effort of getting speakers getting it fitted and such, id rather just get HK

just my opinion.

you will love it! the sound is so warm and rich. I just remembered, 2, maybe 3 weeks ago in autocar they did a review on the countryman they are running, the author was taken back as to how good the system was and went to meet the person who designed it he was so impressed, if i knew where to get the article online i would give a link!
