Is the USB port standard or optional?

Hi,

I'm picking up my first Mini soon. I've waited six years, so I can't convey just how excited I am even if it's "only" second hand.

One thing I cannot work out though is whether the radio comes with USB or not. It's a 2006 second-gen model and did have an aux port, under the controls for the windows etc, but I keep forgetting to check for a USB port.

Some threads say that if it has USB then it also has bluetooth...others say that if it has an aux-in, then it by default must have USB too. And others have written that if it has an armrest (mine does), the USB port will definitely be in there!

Any idea?

Thanks

Will

I've got an early 2007 model MCS with factory arm-rest - it has the Aux socket underneath the windows switches but I haven't come across a USB socket - do you know where it would be?

As far as I know, it would be right next to the Aux socket. So, I think both of us are USB-less.

As I understand it, the USB port comes with the basic Bluetooth option - so included in Pepper pack and above. Certainly my base Cooper without Bluetooth doesn't have a USB port (but does have an Aux socket).

Thanks Angib. Sadly mine hasn't got USB or bluetooth. Do you know if it's possible for the MFSW to control an iPod or iPhone plugged into Aux, or is that essentially just a "dumb" audio port?

Just an audio port, the USB port is required to control the Ipod/Iphone through the MFSW.
