Mp3 CD's

I have recently been introduced to the mp3 cd's and id3 tags so i can select and play my music in the car like if it were an ipod (my mini does not have the ipod connector!) i have about 120 songs on my disc arranged in different folders. However as needs increase i want more storage and more music, standard cd's only allow 700mb of storage. However i was wondering if anyone had used DVD's in their mini to store their music allowing 4.7GB of space? whenever i have tried it the car would not read the disc

I spec'd my 2009 Dooper with Nav and I can play MP3 DVDs if I take out the nav DVD. I've not tried dual layer DVDs although that would give you nearly double the 4.7GB.
I recently got a £14 iPod cable from Amazon and use that with my old iPod as it seems easier! Dunno if newer cars can play DVDs as standard though.

Thats interesting, i wonder if the drive used for the nav is the same as that used for the standard cd player system. Mine is a may 2007 cooper with i beleive the boost cd system so quite an early r56, anyone got this working with the basic mini audio system
