United-Kingdom setting daytime running lights and safe home

I have just got my first mini, a countryman 2012 model. It is great, but I cannot get the info/set to set up my lights for daylight running or even to do the safe home thing. I might have missed something basic like should I leave the light stalk on lights all the time.... I am sure this is a really simple thing....

but help!!
