Just got a new Dooper Countryman with Media pack - absolutely loving it!
I believe though that I should be able to read any SMS that come in on the screen. However it doesn't seem to work, they come through on the phone (iPhone 4s via genuine Y-Cable), but I don't have an option in the Connected or Office menus
Certainly couldn't read texts on pre-facelift cars (my late 2009 Doper for example) - but don't know about newer cars. Hope to find out shortly as I'm planning on changing to a new Dooper S.
I thought I read on mini.com/connectivity that it should work with an iPhone, although there is a software update linked from there that might be relevant too.
Certainly before iOS 6, text from iPhone was not supported as the phone did not support the MAP profile. Other phones do work, with texts appearing in the 'Office' section (along with email on Blackberry).
I have not tried it with iOS 6 yet, will have a look later.
I can confirm that I an indeed read texts on the head unit - not sure what changed but they just started working last night while I was stuck in traffic. This is through my iPhone 4S on iOS 6.0.1.
So thats actually displaying them (and a tone to mark arrival?) when the phone receives 'em? Can you go back to others it's received or is it limited to ones arriving when the phone is in the car?
I haven't noticed a tone, but an envelope icon appears and there are menu options for messages in Phone and Office. E-mails don't work though, I think apple don't allow access to them.
