Interior cargo space length (NOT volume)

I am strongly considering a MINI Cooper S (hardtop) for my next vehicle; I've actually wanted one for about 10 years now!

There's one piece of information that's important to me, that MINI doesn't seem to publish: the length of the rear cargo space with the back seats down. They do publish the volume, but that's not what I need to know. I play keyboards in a band and my larger keyboard case measures 8.5" high X 17" wide X 60" long (21.6cm X 43cm X 152cm). Can anyone tell me whether this will fit in the boot, even diagonally, with the back seats down (perhaps with the front passenger's seat all the way forward)?

The nearest dealer is about an hour away, and at current fuel prices, I really don't want to make a special trip just to take a couple measurements.

Thanks in advance!

I've easily fitted a tv stand which is 1.2m wide x 500mm deep x 600mm high, into mine with the back seats folded down.

You could always ring the dealer and ask them to measure one if you dont want to go down there?
If they think you might be buying one Im sure they will be keen to oblige?
Failing that get a Clubman it would fit in that.

There is about 5' diagonally with the passenger seat all the forward, but the rake of the rear hatch might make fitting a case with these dimensions difficult. Fitting it diagonally on edge ( [\] ) may work.

If the dealer is too far away perhaps someone is selling a MINI locally who would let you test fit the case.

Thumbs up

Judging by the measurements and other information, it looks very promising.

I'm really only interested in the hardtop, so if it wasn't even close, I'd probably have to borrow my wife's Kia Sorento for band practice & gigs. I didn't think about calling a dealer, but would be reluctant to bother them until I was closer to buying one). I figured someone here would certainly have an answer.

Thanks for the quick responses!
