I have Mini Connected and And iPhone 5, can anyone give any tips on how to update the software.
I downloaded the file onto a USB but that would not do anything when I tried to update, can't do it direct from the. iPhone connected to the USB port and if so, what do I need to do??????
I recently did UPD0006 (or whatever it's called) and simply downloaded the bin file that was in a .zip, copied it to the root of a USB stick (FAT32), popped it in the centre console USB socket and selected 'software update' on the screen (I've got Nav too BTW) - it worked and reported back the new versions. I think the only way is via a USB stick so keep at it. I take it you unzipped the archive file that downloaded??
@Mid Life Mini - if you mean updating Mini Connected on your Iphone 5 then you do all this through the App Store. The latest version is 2.4.0.
@timp - why did you update to UPD006 on a brand new car? The advice I was given by Mini was only to update if you required the new support for new devcies or if you were having a problem. I also thought that software updates had to be performed from the USB socket in the glovebox which is what it is there for.
Timp - thanks for this. I did try a while ago downloading the .bin file onto a USB stick and then putting that into the USB socket in the bubby hole in front of the gear stick but the system could not find any file. Is the .bin file zipped up then or something (i'm not very computer technical).
Scillyisles - no it is not the Mini Connected app that I am trying to update on the iphone as I have only just downloaded that, it is the actual software on the car. I have had it a year and it is now just over two years old so I am guessing that any sotware updates have not been picked up, just want to make sure I am running the most up to date version.
scillyisles - the software update tells you to use the central USB - I understand the glovebox one is only for updating the nav maps - probably got that from here though!. The details on the update say it's to improve support of iOS6 amongst other things and my car wasn't up to date - hence me updating it (I'm a glutton for updating anything and everything - whats the worst that can happen? !!)
MidLife - the .bin was in a .zip so if you copied a .bin then you did the right thing. I assume it was formatted FAT32 or similar? You had a 'software update' option on the display I take it??
Hi there Timp - yes it was just a .bin file. Not sure how the USB Stick was formatted, I will give that a go. Yes I have the software Update option but when I hit it, it just says it cannot find any files.
