Thumbs down Mini Connected and iPhone 5 IOS7.x

Hi all,

I have just plugged my iPhone 5 in to the Cooper (full media/nav/bluetooth prep) and I'm so disappointed to discover half of the features are not recognized.

To name a few : No email/txt display, No Video out from the iPhone, Office does not work and Twitter in the "Mini Connected App" wont work either.

To top this the good guys at Mini have removed "Google send to car" from the latest version of the App.

What is the point of a car being geared up for the iPhone if all it will do is the basics (make calls and play music).

I have rolled back to an older version of the App to get my "Google send to car" back which is one of the most useful features but it seems to me this is all a big step backwards?

Even my old trusty Ford was able to display txt/emails and read them if required.

Everyone's thoughts please.

Mike

Not sure about emails but I have iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1 and I can read texts.

I have MINI Connected but don't really use all of the features, but I have not seen anything drop off after the software update.

Really? Even the Mini web site for connectivity says these features are not supported, can you tell me how you're connecting your iPhone to the car? Are you using both the Y lead and Bluetooth together?

I have asked Mini about this and all I get is the standard reply.... We don't support it.

I only connect the phone via bluetooth (my iPod is connected with the Y Cable) and I do not use the connected app on the phone, I need to concentrate on driving rather than seeing if I can keep the fish in the bowl of water or whatever that does.

Bluetooth is always on on my phone (iPhone 5) and it connects as soon as I get in the car and I can make and receive calls.

If I get a text, I get an envelope appear at the top of the screen (I have the big LCD display where the speedo is - Visual Boost I think it is called). I just hit the phone button on the steering wheel to call up the phone menu, flick the joystick left and select Messages from the menu and I can then see the message. If I scroll down to the arrow thingy then the text message is read out for me, although it sometimes does not read all of the texts.

I have not received email to the car, not sure how that works but i'm not bothered about that and I have not managed to get Calendar to work in the Office menu but then that does not bother me anyway.

See how yo get on and let me know if you need any more info or photo's

Solved it.

iPhone, settings, Bluetooth, Mini, then tap "i" and ensure "Show Notifications" is set to on.

I have had txt messages before in the car but then they stopped coming in, when I re-enabled this today once again the envelope icon re-appears and txt messages are shown..... But still says from unknown sender, I'll have to put up with it.

No joy with emails, or Twitter Via Mini Connected and obviously still no video out.

Yes my texts say they are from unknown, but then start the text message with the name of the sender that is stored in the phone.

Glad you have got it sorted, sort of.

Yeah that,s because Mini features are not updated by the company. So I phone when connected with the Mini so it fails to display it some features. Its a genuine problem. But in new generation it has been updated and works well and also compatible for the I phone.
