I just bought a 2007 R52. Unfortunately the glove box refuses to open. The handle is in place but the center of it is missing (round opening in center of chrome lever). Is there any way I can open this without a crowbar. Many thanks

Removing passenger trim cover

I've looked in the Haynes manual and it reads " On models without a storage compartment,PRISE (my capitals) the complete trim panel from place."

There's an illustration which depicts someone with an L shaped object prising the panel from its lower edge.

Yes, prise it carefully, otherwise the retaining clips could be broken and it won't go back properly and you could damage the trim around it. If it is not the "Hidden Compartment" there is no point in opening it. To save you the time and worry, I opened mine, thinking that it was the "hidden Compartment" and all that was there was some electrical "black boxes" (alarm control?) and little room to store anything. I would suggest just don't try...

Sorry to piggy back,
I am looking for advice on how to remove the read internal side panels of a 2009 mini cooper convertible.

There is quite a bit of rattling from back there and I am sure the seat belt mechanism is the cause.

MANY thanks
