Headlights on while locking/unlocking car

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. This may be a crazy easy question to answer. I have a 2012 Mini Cooper hatchback hard top I just got it this past weekend. Obviously, used. I would like to have my headlights turn on when I unlock my car and turn on (then ecebtually turn off) when I lock my car using my key fob. I have gone through my handbook and could've sworn I've been doing this but doesn't work. I have gone through my computer system and iit doesn't allowe me to then it on, just marks as off when I go through the system. Am I missing something?? Is this not possible? PLEASE HELP. I have been going crazy!!!!

The only option you have is 'pathway lighting' which holds the headlamps on for some time if you use the headlamp flasher after switching off. You can alter how long the headlamps stay on in the settings menu using the indicator stalk button.

There is no way to set this to happen automatically - I guess Europe does not have that level of fear about personal safety!
