09 cooper convertible boot lid problems

Hi all; I was wondering if anyone could help me?

My 2009 Cooper convertible used to unlock all the doors and boot when I pressed the unlock button on my fob. Recently, however, it will only open the doors when I press the button on the fob. I now have to use the boot unlock button on the fob to unlock it and the boot lid actually opens ajar rather than simply unlocking. Before i could just press the unlock button, all doors including the boot would unlock and i could open the boot lid by pressing the button under the chrome bar. This no longer is the case, using the boot unlock button actually causes the boot lid to open ajar!

I could cope with this but thought the sudden change was weird. My main gripe though is that when I unlock the boot this way and get into my car the actual boot opens ajar if I don't drive off pretty much straight away. Any ideas?

I have a 60 plate Dooper Convertible. If I press my unlock button then I can open the boot using the handle. If I press the boot button on the key fob it actually opens the boot lid for me. Prefer that as the handle gets filthy.

Thanks - mine used to do this bit if I press the unlock button on my fob I can't open the boot using the handle. It's also weird that the boot lid will open ajar if I sit in the car and don't leave within 1/2 mins.

Just checking - when you press unlock, does the passenger door unlock? If not, you (or someone) could have changed the settings in the car about what to do when the unlock button is pressed - you can set it to either unlock just the driver's door, or both doors and boot.

So it might be worth seeing what is in your car's settings:



Oh, and the boot (well, hatchback) button on the key fob should open the boot ajar, and not just unlock it. The manual says that this should only happen if you hold the hatchback button for a while, but I found that as soon as it was pressed, the lock clicked open.

Thanks for taking the time to scan your manual for me - that is really kind of you. I had already tried the manual instruction to no avail - it was tricky though so I will check if the passenger seat is unlocked when I press the unlock fob. I think it's playing up though - Esp as the boot lid sporadically opens ajar if I sit in my seat with the key in and don't go anywhere straight away - it's well odd!
