Really, really don't like the increased front overhang; a tiny front overhang is a very rare thing in a front wheel drive car.

Really, really don't like the near loss of the headlamps cowls in the bonnet pressing that reminded me so much of being in my mum's old Morris 1300!

AND they STILL haven't fitted LED tail lights. What a wasted opportunity

Overall a fairly predictable update, in a next generation Golf / 911 sort of a way. However, it moves the style slightly further away from being uniquely MINI and slightly further towards being just like any other FWD supermini

Tigger.

Tigger, I think thats tape on the back windows rather than a bit of plastic.

I am also sure that they won't be the final tail lights, I agree LEDs would be an excellent idea.

I think it will look quite a bit different once we see official photos of the car.

I just noticed the single, central back box on the exhaust....

Which means no battery in the boot, which means the battery returns to the engine bay on the S.....

Which means room for a space saver tyre...?> probably not...

I think the new car looks like it has had changes made just for the sake of having changes made. IMHO the are ugly and i am glad because the current one rules....

Good spot.

I assume that this means switching to an aftermarket exhaust would be cheaper

The edges of the lights are still covered, could still be a chance that this is hiding LED's round the edges.

Also not the rear section of the rear side windows is still disguised, is this is hide opening rear quarters, high level lights, or some new cheaper way to manufacture the glass and finish it?

Still lots of things to be revealed, so don't discount things just yet as not present, as not all options were available for launch last time either

i've been wondering whether the rear quarter masking is hiding opening rear widows - another link to the past?

would be great if they did, was always good in summer to allow a nice flow of air through the car

It would be good, its just about the only part of the current car that I dont like - rear seat passengers get no windows, and no air vents from the aircon. Thats a very poor design. My daughter often got fed up of being in the back with no fresh air.

However, its my understanding that there will be no rear opening windows of any kind....

But my dealer told me the bonnet air scoop would also disappear for pedestrian safety reasons. It is also probably less necessary with a turbo. Anyone else heard this?

The scoop is staying as far as I am aware.

There was talk of it disappearing, but luckily it seems to have survived

Yes, bit odd, as the photographs released of the turbo engine shows it doesnt have an intercooler....

Ahhh...an option for extra power with a bolt on mod there then Lets hope the bonnet will allow room to wedge something under there or that someone makes a replacement with an air ram/duct on it.

or more probable that its purely cosmetic as there are a lot MCS owners that now associate the scoop with the S, and want a difference in look from the cooper model

Where is the Photo?

There are no modern engine manufactures building Turbo engines without Intercoolers that I'm aware off !
It doesnt have to sit on top of the engine!.....it can be in behind the bumper, as with the diesel model.
