Pure silver?

I test drove the MCS on Sunday (it was great) and afterwards discussed how I'd like my car with the sales woman. I had printed out what I wanted so knew basically what I was after. I had the car in Pure Silver, but she said that was a bad choice for the 'S'. She said black would be better (my two possible choices), and would be better than silver come resale time.

She said that silver was more suited to the Cooper and the One, but not the S. And that on their system for used cars, there were very few silver MCS's.

I think silver looks good, and black also. The only thing I was thinking was that silver is easier to maintain.

Are there very few silver MCS's out there?

I really like pure silver / black on the MCS. With the new car it also contrasts well with the blak grills etc.

Not keen on black, for looks it's fantastic, for aftarcare it's a nightmare!

It seems this way, I am currently on the lookout for Pure Silver Cooper S Bumpers for my "one" and cant seem to find any anywhere.

The only reason I don't like silver too much is that it looks the same all the time...For Example you can spend a very long time cleaning and polishing and the outcome is the same as what you get after a quick wash. Although im a car clean freak.

Dont think this information helps but hey ho

Regards

for me the black has too much of a hint of blue. it's not a black black.

get the DS, always a winner, that's what i've opted for.

The sales lady is clearly moronic.

Silver is cool.

I agree, Pure Silver is not an S colour - somehow.

Astro Black is a great colour for the S as are the two blues or chilli red.

I second that black is a nightmare to look after! My 2004 cooper paintwork was covered in swirl marks and you clean it, then it rains and looks like a bucket of sand has been chucked over it!

I'm sure silver would look good (or Dark silver like mine!)

Get what you want, not what someone tells you you should want.
It's a MINI, so make it yours.

Is/was that solid black or metallic?

I had a metallic black and thought it was easy to keep clean and looked OK when dirty.

I have a pure silver first gen. MCS, and am pleased as punch with it. Am not a "keep clean" addict and find that if the wheels are kept reasonably the rest just follows suit. Like others have said, black is a horrendous colour and really shows the dirt.

Oh, forget the saleslady. She'll have only one thing on her mind. And it won't be s**. It'll be, "What's in it for me?"

"I get by with a little help from my friends"

Have a look at my gallery, I have a PS/B R56 MCS and I think it look great,

Used to own a Chilli Red one and was a nightmare to clean,

With my Ps it ALWAYS looks clean even after driving through the snow last week, and it looks great when you really clean it properly, you will not be dissapointed,

There is another R56 on here in pure silver with the Aero Kit and driving lights and it looks the business, if only i had the money for that.

Go with the pure silver if its your first choice, it will look great as Paul said it contrasts the new grilles very well.

My chilli red also has swirls all over it My dad suggested that it may be from washing the car when its really filthy without pressure washing the thick mud off and just using a hose and a spunge.

Are MINI going to bring out another black, like Black 2 from the 1st gen? A/B is far too blue
