I thought about putting mine back to a post week 31 build. But when I actually thought about it there was the possibility of keep putting it back as new features become available, meaning I would never get a new car!

Also it did cross my mind of 'more/new' teething problems with the new features, I think we can safely say the R56 has had/got enough problems as it is without increasing the risk of more issues

Thats my opinion anyways, I am sure the new features will be great... I'm just impatient

I pick my new S up tomorrow and I cant wait, i just hope to god its a good one!

Ben

Here is the response I receieved in case anyone is interested...it's well detailed and I appreciate their response.

Thank you for contacting MINI Customer Information. We can advise that within the UK there are going to be very slightchanges to MINI Hatchbacks manufactured from Week 31 Monday 30th July2007, which are: MSA - Automatic Engine Start/Stop as standard The Auto Start-Stop Function, available with manual transmission cars, automatically switches the engine off when the vehicle is stationary andthe driver puts the car into neutral. To restart, the driver only needsto engage the clutch before pulling away in the normal manner. Thesystem may be de-activated at the touch of a button when not required. This technology will reduce both the fuel consumption and the emissionsof the car. iGR - Brake Energy Regeneration as standardBrake Energy Regeneration works by using an Intelligent AlternatorControl (IAC) and an Absorbent Glass Mat battery to recycle previouslylost energy, which saves fuel. The IAC reduces drag on the engine byonly engaging when required to charge the battery, whereas a traditionalalternator is always pulling power from the engine. Additionally, the energy generated by the engine on over-run (under braking or descendinga hill) was previously wasted. Now this lost energy is utilised by theIAC to charge the battery. This technology reduces fuel consumption byapproximately 3%. SPA - Switch Point Display made standardSwitch Point Display aids drivers of manual transmission MINIs inselecting the most economical gear in which to drive. The enginemanagement system analyses speed, road situation and accelerator pedalposition and based on this data calculates optimum gearing. The idealgear is then displayed by number in the cockpit display. This technologycan reduce fuel consumption if the customer follows the visual data. 249 - Multi-function for Steering Wheel The Cruise Control element of this option will include a set speeddisplay indicator in the cockpit. 521 - Rain Sensor A new button for the rain sensor. With this change the rain sensor canbe switched on or off according to the customer preference.
We are unable to advise on whether this will take place within theAmerican marketplace. To find this out we would recommend contacting:

All good technical improvements which should improve fuel economy and help the environment. My only doubt is ***'s Law : -"If something can go wrong , it will go wrong".

A 3% reduction in fuel consumption sounds good. At present I am getting 41.0 mpg, this would improve to 42.2 mpg. My only concern is if anything goes wrong then it would be '***' to put right! But as BMW are proceeding with these mod's then the owner will have to accept them.

I would not like to be employed by the AA.

Thats why the otr price has come down cos of the cheaper road tax, but MINI have thoughtfully put the prices up on the options so despite the initial price going down slightly the price after you have specced it will more than likely go up

The smokers pack is worth having even if you are non-smoker. You get a few more holes with lids, but you also get a cigarette lighter. This is useful as a plug socket for: -
a) External power driven tyre inflater
b) Speed Camera detector
c) Electric Razor

I mainly use it for the Tyre Inflater as I don't trust the accuracy of the garage ones!

You should still get a working 12v socket if you don't spec the Smoker's pack - that's definitely the case on current R56s.

You are right, you do get a 12V socket. I still went for the smoker pack, and got the dealer to knock off the 'barmy' £10 charge
