If you say so... I personally like the exhaust note. Its just different than most gas cars.

Do a search on here, lots about the idle of the r56 (and lots of other, more expensive petrols) having an idle like a disel car. Sound great when you move off though!

as a new MCS owner i have to agree with the desil sound on tick over but that run of from 1st to second gear sound good and after in the car hey how cares it's great fun.

Direct injection petrol.. the solenoids are what gives it the diesel characteristic.... but plus side is that it helps the fuel economy. In a few years all cars will end up with it and will all sound similar.

Someone actually asked me if my car was diesel last week and I was able to explain to them why it sounded like a diesel - thanks to MINI2
