Hey guys new here...... and soooooo excited and nervous all at once! Basically i bought a brand new BMW 3 series coupe (325i) in January this year. Gorgeous, relaxing, huge, comfy car...... very nice. And that's just the problem, it's just too nice- very predictable, very reliable, large and heavy. As quickly as i fell in love with it, I've fallen out of love with it. It looks nice- but it's lost it's exclusivity- mine was one of the first few on the roads- now even my neighbour has one (in exact same spec/ alloy/colour )So i'd decided I needed a new car- I wanted something smaller (more economical, with the bmw i'm getting 24 mpg)- test driven the Focus ST (uncomfortable driving position), 350z (love it, but I can't swallow the financial loss if bought new), Golf gti (boooooring!), and have now fallen on the MCS. I admit- the Mini has been an acquired taste- being more a fan of larger, sleeker, more elegant cars, the Mini's cheeky grin took a while for me to get totally used to. But after looking at pictures of spec'd up Mini's i found what was and what wasn't doing it for me. So off to Mini we went, and i finally got to sit in one. And i was sold. Being a small 5ft 2, i'd always felt dwarfed in my big cars- but in the Mini- i just fit- and was really surprised at how well put together they were. Quick test drive later (complete with perma-smile) and found myself putting a deposit down on a new r56 mcs with the following spec; ds/b, black bonnet stripes, r99 anthracite wheels, DSC, Visibility pack, Chromeline interior, Black aero grill, carbon fibre bonnet scoop- prob missed few things out too excited to think right now!!!! Picking it up this sat (2 days!!!!!) so so so excited, and yet so worried- kinda hope i've done the right thing- it's funny how after I put the deposit down suddenly my car felt seemingly 'faster' and handled better..... last minute nerves i guess. Just 2 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

Yes, but what I can guarantee is your BMW won't feel quite as direct and connected to the road. I've only been a mini owner for a week, and can't believe how much it is making me smile. My other car is a Porsche 911 (997 C2S), and I will happily say that the mini is at least as much fun to drive as the 911! The quality of the mini interior grates a little, but the driving experience outweighs the few quality gripes! And although the mini is the substantially slower car. It does still feel fast! I think you'll be happy. I am!! ...Mad

I drove an 330 coupe the other day.. very nice.. I might start saving up. But don't like the 5 door saloons. The New 2.0T TT feels like its in a different league on the inside though! next car for me probably will be the TT or the 330 Coupe (don't think I can afford the 335)

Its a good job every one is different, I bought a new MCS in January, kept it barely five months and just hated it to pieces, I liked it for a while but the nervous handling (dont go for 17"s and sports suspension, with run flats they are just to much), the poor quality. The Dealer, Stratstone in Derby were just terrible and didnt want to help with issues, it was in and out of the Dealers for months. SO I binned it and bought an Edition 30 Golf which is just fabulous and you know what? It hasnt had to go back once.

Scoobydoo! almost identical story for me! i have had big bimmers for 15 years, 323, Z3 2.8, 540, 330 conv . and 530D. nearly bought a 335i - the test drive was fantastic but i dont commute much these days and couldnt jusitfy 40k's worth of the car sat on the drive!!! I'm picking up mine at 930 - i expect to go through the cycle of wow! then a week later - my god - I need my big bimmer - then the 'enhancements' will begin!!! good luck ! Cheers Dave

God, do i hate waiting.... have tonight then till 3.30pm to wait till i finally get the car. It's definately going to be tough seeing the bmw go- I'm just hoping seeing the Mini will put the smile back on face! Dreading it and can't wait all at once (doesn't make sense i know!)......

Yup..... I knew i wanted the chilli pack and wanted a dark silver with black roof and luckily they had one in..... also has DSC, visibility pack chromeline interior wih piano black trim.... which is close to how i would have specced mine anyhow- bonus were the bonnet stripes. Also added r99 anthracite wheels, black aero grill, c f bonnet scoop.... window tints to be added later as well as an aero kit.... and tuning. This is going to be a nightmare on my bank balance. ![]() Like the idea of speccing but can't wait the number of weeks they were saying and plus they gave me a hefty discount and good part ex.... sealed the deal for me!
