MINI Number 2 (in the family)!

Oh what a fab day . Only having just come back from Leeds yesturday, what a treat to take the day off and go see my new baby. A brank spanking new MINI Cooper S in Astro Black with the JCW Kit. I didn't see the car when I popped in, but they sneakily parked it round the front as I was talking with the sales manager.

I managed to get some pens and complete set of cleaning kit for free. Was very happy and 100% the car was spot on. Have only done 30 odd miles (not feeling 100% myself from long partying hours at the weekend ). Also minus the JCW Spoiler. However, the salesman said last week that they were on back order because there was a problem with the varnish on them.

Since driving around, I noticed the rear apron had a slight problem with the left plastic (where the light sits) hasn't been fitted flush and moves a bit. It isn't urgent as it doesn't affect the car and I'll pop it into the dealer tomorrow.

However, I'm dead happy with the car . It turns many heads and I'm already finding it almost difficult to keep within the run-in recommendations as it's such a thrill to drive.

The other thing..... Although I'm a audiophile, I personally think the BOOST CD and Hi-Fi Speaker Upgrade is very good! People think it's strange that BMW decided to keep the system internal and not give people the freedom to change their CD player, but I've always liked it .

I think BMW will regret ditching the AB colour. Even when I mentioned the colour was going to be dropped to the salesman, he was very surprised! Here's some pic's to make you smile .

Very happy with MINI Chelmsford. Literally took them 5 minutes to solve the unclipped plastic light on the rear bumper. No messing around and out within 20 minutes .

All I've got to do now is sit tight and wait for a call from mr.salesman to tell me when the JCW Spoiler is in.

Same as mine too, but think mine was the first on the forum with AB & Aero!

Hope it doesn't rattle inside and out like mine though...

*fingers crossed* Everything is spotless on my MCS and hope the rattle gremlins will stay away. Will be shame when this colour disappears in the summer. People love it as it's different with the blue/greenish shades in the paint.

Astro black is a superb colour in the flesh when polished in sunlight. I'd have it now on my MCS but I couldn't have astro black on two MINIs in a row. When I ordered it first time round back in 2004 (when it became available) there were no examples in the dealer network, and the best MINI customer services could do was e-mail me a picture of a MINI in solid black to show what it would most look like!

As for running in your car, try not to use the sport mode, as this will increase the load on the engine and clutch in the early stages as it increases throttle sensitivity.

Enjoy!

Thanks lawro . I did cheekily use the sport mode once today knowing I was going on a very nice stretch of straight road to see what my Cooper S could do. I won't do it again now as I do care about the run-in. However, I have crept a little over 4250rpm a few times by mistake and not thrashing it about. I guess it doesn't it too much harm as long as it's not continuously over 4250rpm aggresively all the time. It's just quite amazing how much power is available lower down the scale and that I'm having to slowly change my driving style as the previous car I had loved being revved.
