front seats giving more rear space

A thing thats a little annoying is the small space given to the passengers of the rear seats, when they want to come out of the car. Its strange that the front seats (especially the codriver seat) will not slide more to the front although it has a lot of space in front of it when sliding forwards. Is this a matter of a setting to the seats "railway" (or what ever its called) so setting it appropriately will make the seat slide and stop as front as possible?

If you raise/crank the seat up it also moves forward a little bit too

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the tracks are shorter on the passenger side in comparison to the driver's seat. Presumably, the thinking behind this was to ensure that the passenger doesn't sit too far forward and get too close to the airbag / impede the driver's view?

All the best,
Andrew.

Andrew yes im referring to the codrivers seat, only at the phase when you slide it forward so the rear seat passenger can get out easier! Is that what you mean?

Mine slides ample amount to get in/out of back. Maybe the rails have got out of sync. Try the following:

Tip seat back so its in the forward position (ie to let someone in the back)
With seat still in this position, slide the seat back as far as it will go.
Now click the seat back into it's upright position
Now slide the seat the seat forward to the required passenger seating position using the back and forward seat adjuster at the from of the seat (as you would to adjust the distance from the dash if sat in the seat).

Now get out of the seat and try and tip the seat back forward and then the seat should slide towards the front of the car giving the required space for the back seat driver to get in

Life's fun in black and white

If the tracks are shorter (as I was thinking), then this would affect how far the passenger seat would slide forward whether upright or tipped. If the tracks are identical, then I'm out of ideas.

Worth a shot, eh?
