Smile I bought an S...

Well, I decided to put my name down for an S.
I get it early next month.

I'm sure the wait will destroy me, but I hope it'll rekindle my faith in the MINI brand.

Welcome Back Rec. What ever happened to the Cooper you had? I remember you always having problems with it. Did you buy your new S from Southampton?

Good Luck and welcome back! Hope your S will be perfect for you. Whats your new Spec?

they finally fixed the speedo rattle about a month ago (thank god) then i nearly got into massive legal battles with them over them trying to make me replace my pads when they didn't need to be.

i got the S from Scotthall yeah, i dont have an issue with the MINI guys, it's just those bloody Service people.

spec isn't anything special to talk about, it's a DS with black roof and mirrors. It's got a Chili pack on it, and darkened rear glass. that's about it, nothing ground breaking.

i wanted a JCW Aero Kit, but i cant afford it. i looked at the factory Aero Kit (they had a PW with one on it) and it look horrid so i passed on it.

insurance is less than the Cooper as well, which is strange. my current insurer quoted me 445 for the Cooper and 750 for the Cooper S. More Than has quoted me 441 for the Cooper S, which is going to decrease as my Mum's going to use More Than as well. we basically save each other money.

i used the Cooper as a part ex, even though it's gone from being +£500 in equity to -£915 in negative within the last 9 months. meh, ah well.

it's costing me about £355 a month plus insurance, but hey... it's only money and you cant take it with you can you ?

i'm hoping i wont have any issues with this one. i cant believe the hassle i had with the Cooper. it's a great car and i'll miss it, but man was the build quality rubbish. what are the late 08 plate Cooper S's like ? any ideas ? mine is a 2008 built car, but will be 09 registered.

estimated delivery date is 01/03/09 as it's a stock car... not long to go.

Well glad you've still enjoyed your MINI even with the build quality. I don't know how the quality is but it seems that many are as happy as larry. I think theres a constant diesel engine sound problem that some are experiencing. Watch out for that. The only R56 S I test drove back in 2007 had this problem - put me right off.

Sounds nice and great news about the insurance. Good luck with the waiting I hope your Cooper will tide you over for a while!

yes it was ultimately the ongoing cold start noise issue that stopped me, at the last moment, from purchasing an s back in september - went for an elise in the end.

great shame, as i would definitely have bought one - but it seems most get this issue even with all the 'fixes'.

the cooper sounds like a diesel anyway, so i doubt it'll be a problem.

however, the 2 S's i borrowed, and the one i test drove didn't have any noises. fingers crossed.

Good luck with your new purchase. Sounds like an ace car!
I myself pay £300 a month on my S but never look back as it's the best purchase I've ever made, and it's awesome fun to drive! hehe
Keep us posted, you'll be needing a MINI2 sticker me thinks...
