Tomorrow I am swapping my summer performance tire to winter tires. Thing is, the summer tires are 17" runflats, while the winter ones are 16" runflats. Do I keep both of them to 38 psi like I do with my summer tires?
Isn't this info on the tyre pressure panel in the door frame? Like Caesar above I run 17" inch run flats at 36PSI - do US cars have different recommended pressures?
Yes it is on the panel but they use BAR not PSI......2.50 Bar= 36PSI.
When I bought the MCS I used to run them at 34 PSI all round, I had to replace the front tyres at 11k miles due to wear on the outer tread, centre was OK. Once the new tyres were fitted I increased the pressure to 36 and the car handled much better. The run flats need checking more frequently for some reason, I use a small compressor that runs off the ciggy lighter and check the pressures at 4 week intervals (if I remember!).
I have a R56 MCS, other Mini models may need different pressures. Also note that the recommended pressures vary depending on the number of occupants and maximum speed the car will be doing.
When i first picked my car up it running 32psi on runflats, and it was all over the place and it hated the bumps, now i run 36 psi on the rf's and its a lot better, although i dont think the rf's give to much grip anyway.
