Canada Mini cooper S 2010 consuption

Hey,

I bought about 6 months ago a 2010 cooper S from a dealer. Last weekend I made a 600km trip and checked for the first time my consumption.

After having driven about 4-500 km on cruise control set to ~ 110 km/h I noticed that my consumption was about 7.7l/100km (having reset the meter before the trip).

I know that manufacturers cheat on mileage, but this is quite far from the 5.6l/100km advertised.

Is this a common occurance?

It's perfectly normal. Around 7,5 l/100km for long non-highway trips, 8-8.5 l/100km for high-way. 8-10 all the time avg depending on your driving style.

5.6 l/100km combined fuel consumption is non-sense, I couldn't get under 7 l/100km with my MCS and very very light foot on long trip. I guess 5.6 l/100 km could be doable in 90 km/h on flat road without any acceleration :-D

Mini Cooper S (2007), 158 kW and 312 NM.

As Nick007 said, that is pretty normal. My figures are pretty much the same. My best consumption on the open road has been 6.8l/100km. Normal in town consumption is usually about 8.5l/100km, anything less than that is a bonus. I still think getting 600km off a tank is pretty good.

As for the 5.6l/100km, that is a bit optimistic and that figure is more suited to diesels. Not even my 1.4 Fiesta could get close to that on the open road.

That is already a bit better than pre-LCI Cooper S. I had a 2007 Cooper S that was averaging 8.5l/100km.

I am now averaging 5.55 in an SD, so I doubt you'll see 5.6 unless going downhill with a tail wind.

I don't think anyone gets the published figures. Most Minis leave the dealer with fat tyres that are more fun to drive but definitely not good for fuel economy.

Just enjoy guys and know that it is still the best performance per $ car out there
