Exclamation cooper s turbo intake pipe

Hello. new to the club, so be gentle with me. I have just bought a 2008 cooper s. in astro black. and I have been doing a bit of tlc under the bonnet. oil change. ect.and noticed the air intake pipe loose.so i tightend it up,drove to work and back.a couple ot times, and i have just checked to see if it was ok.and bloody hell. its hanging off again ??. I work in the turbo-charger indus. and know this is not a good thing to have open. sucking anything in there would damage the turbo. whats the problem. any ideas would be helpful.

Hey and welcome! A few guys here have mentioned the same thing. Maybe check with your local Mini dealer if there is a fix. The car should be under warranty. Post some pics now

Hi*

The turbo inlet pipe is a known problem I have seen 4 of my mates cars on 2007 and 2008 r56's. all those cars were done under warrante. The rubber adaptor in the end of the hose deteriorates. And the design fault is that the inlet on the turbo housing is to short which makes the problem worse.

Hope his helps

Talking intake problem's sorted

hello. I have just bought this of e-bay. Its a HKS Induction filter.
I have it fitted now. and what a difference it makes. I now have what sounds like a blow-off sound. on overboost. its great. Has anyone not had there re-call done. I have spoken to lloyd's at blackpool. and they did not fill me with a huge amount of confidance. it was NO you cannot have a courtesy car. just drive down here, and we will fit the water pump.while you wait. it should only take 2 hours. I asked if they would empty the radiator and re-fill it with new antfreeze ect. and he said no. they would just top it up,if needed. I have NOT yet had this done. I am worried they could leave an air bubble in the system, they should empty the radiator.and refill I think. has anyone else got any views on tihis. cheers .

best thing i found to stop it coming of. take the pipe off boil the kettle and put the pipe in there till the rubber is stop then do the clip up or take the pipe of pull out the rubber reducer get a hot air gun heat up both parts then put it bk together and do the clip up tight either methods have worked for me.
