Tuned Cooper S!

Was quite surprised by a little tuned Cooper S with an "AMG" reg.... Not many cars give me trouble that often....

Anyways, I would like to know what sort of power can a tuned Cooper S make?

My car makes 336bhp....so having a Cooper S very close surprised me ...big time...

I think 250 bhp (or more) is possible from what I've read.

Perhaps the one you saw belonged to one of the MiniTorque 'hooligans', with suspension and handling modifications as well as power upgrades.

What is your car?

Cheers for the reply....

This place is really dead!

I've got a 335i.

Definitely the exhaust was modified and it must have been remapped.

I'm a former 335 owner. Are you stock? I would assume so as a mildly tuned 335 wouldn't be such a surprise.

But naturally the 335 has another 600 or so pounds on it.

I also assume you have an IS?

Pretty much stock apart from the JB Plus....which gives me an extra 30bhp....

Not an IS....Think they're most common in the USA. I've got a normal SE.

This Mini must have had some serious mod as it was quite close to my rear bumper for a while...

There are a few making over 300bhp, but the majority of tuned examples are between 210-250bhp. As already mentioned, there's the weight advantage, and of course the fact that a MINI will out-handle the majority of other cars.

I'm considering swapping from a 210bhp JCW into a 135i or 335i M-Sport, so this is all food for thought.

260-270 whp is quite easy, we have some 300-400hp mini's over at minitorque, pulling 12 second 1/4 miles without nos, anything is possible

Gotcha. The HP number was why I suggested an IS. That JB should be giving you more than 30 unless you're just doing a mild tune. I used to have a Procede which was good for about 70-80 depending on mods.

I'd have loved another 335, but on the UK side of the pond with no history, insurance was going to kill me.

Yeah, Procede and JB4 would give you about 80 bhp....but I've got the JB Plus which is only a boost controller...

The 335i is a fast car but I was very very surprised that a Cooper S would keep up closely to my rear bumper!!! ....
