I have a 07 r56 with 53k and started getting a weird metallic on the driver side front wheel well after I rotated the tires. I torqued the lugs properly and the noise only happens after 58 mph. Any one else had this issue?
After you moved the tyres? did you make sure they are still rotating the same way as they were? Most tyres are directional and will/can make a strange noise if run the wrong way?
What kind of metallic sound do you hear? Very odd that it is speed related. Does it sound like a high pitch bearing squeal or grinding sound? What happens when you hit the brakes? What happens when you put it in neutral or depress the clutch while at 58+?
It is not a constant noise. It changes pitch and freuency on its own. It is an automatic so I havent depressed anything but i will put it in neutral next time im on the highway. Sounds like metal objects scraping together but there is rhyme or reason other than above 58 mph
Possibly centrifugal force related to the speed appears to be an issue. Left front makes me wonder if it isn't related to the CV joints. Unfortunately intermittent problems are hard to trace when not acting up. A warped rotor would make the noise all the time regardless of speed. I'll keep thinking...
I have the same problem I have a 2007 hardtop with 57k but I can't figured out the problem. Did you fix your car? Please keep me updated I will post something if I get mine fixed.
