Thumbs up Oil Offer at Halfordsss

I've read a lot on here about people recommending Castrol Edge 5W30

But Halfords have a good deal on at the moment for Castrol Magnatec 5W30 Oil 4 Litre at only £17.50 (cheaper than their own brand oil 2 liter)

So what I want to know is, is this stuff any good? and whats the difference between the two? Both are Fully synthetic and 5W30? I bet it all comes from the same tap...

Thanks!

I would guess in practice it might be ok to use but probably not at the extended service intervals that are quite normal on Mini's.......if you use the cheaper oil it would be sensible to keep to a more old style oil/filter change of at least every 12,000 miles or preferably less. Therefore there is not so much of a cost saving overall along with the element of risk involved........

I agree, this is recommended by MINI. I buy it from Halfords and would not recommend anything else.

The problem is checking the engine oil level, the design of the dipstick is very poor. I have mentioned this to my Mini Dealer, and they agree !!!

LL01 is not approved for some of the newer diesel models
