I think? they are to do with the screen wash/headlamp wash.
Yours doesnt appear to have the headlamp wash system fitted from the photo you show, so if the normal screen washers work ok then they maybe unused terminal if they are for the headlamps.

Yes Standard on all models, UK market at least, according to the 2010 2011 2012 brochure, not sure about MINI FIRST model, but all the rest in conjunction with heating for the door mirrors.
If youve not got the heated nozzles fitted, either they were not refitted after repair or like you say they are not fitted to US Export models, your dealer should be able to confirm, or get a brochure/price list off them, it says in there whats standard and whats not.

I suspect that in some markets the heated mirrors and washers aren't standard, but part of whatever the regional "cold weather" options package consists of - often along with heated screen, heated seats and suchlike? I might be mistaken, but that would explain the loose wires in this instance.

I don't think so - my understanding is that Mini looms are custom to the car, so if it has nozzle wires in the loom, it's because the car had heated nozzles when it was built.

It is astonishing that it's worth custom-making a wiring loom, versus just having a few standard types, but that's the marvel of modern production (and production control) techniques. Plus it also means the assembly line doesn't have to deal with the left-over connectors - so it's a bit of poke-yoke too.

I think you are right, I was told at the factory they are custom built to match the Mini's spec unlike in the past when wires were there but not all connected.......on the Oxford MINI Factory tours they often show you the large difference in weight (and cost) of a basic spec MINI One/First wiring loom (bagged ready for installation) compared with a JCW MINI Cooper S loom with all the options specified!

Wiring, I cant wait until everything works without the need for wires, home, car, etc etc. Think of the weight saving, parts saving, materials saving.
Thinking about it, it would probably put so many folk out of a job, a bit like something to do away with oil/petrol, it wont ever be done.
