There are so many conflicting topics on which oil for a 2009 MCS

I know Castrol Edge but can somebody please clarify....

0 w30

or

5 w30

5w30 and 0w30 will both have the same viscosity when warm.
The 0w30 will be thinner in cold winters on start up and thus better/easier to pump round engine.
However, even at start up will be much thicker than either when warm so will no way be too thin.

read the back of the oil container ...

if it says "meets bmw LL-01", then it is good to go in your mini

one example is mobil1 0W40 european blend ... this is the only mobil1 oil that meets bmw LL-01
