R56 Boot WONT open - advice/help/support required please?

Hi,

Mini Cooper S 2007 automatic (R56)

After work and doing some shopping on my way home, I tried to open the boot. I found the key fob opened and locked the driver and passenger doors but on using it to try and open the boot, I could hear the car appear to unlock but on trying found it remained locked.

I left the car for a few hours on the drive and returned using the key fob to try and unlock the boot. Again, I could hear the car appear to unlock but remaining locked.

What could be the possible causes and any quick fixes please and is there a way to open the boot manually?

I have read somewhere you can lift the back seat up and find access to a cord but despite getting in the car found the back seat wont lift up.

If there is a way to open the boot manually, can anyone explain how to do this please?

Many thanks........

There is manual emergency release system fitted to open the boot should it fail electrically/mechanically, its all in your handy MINI drivers handbook on what to do, thats where you must have read it.

Hi,

I have looked at the manual link and yet on entering the car through the driver's and passenger's side I can't locate the emergency release link!

The manual shows an area in regard to the rear seating but I'm still stumped where or how to locate the emergency release link. Please help.

Many thanks

I contacted a local BMW dealership and despite the link for the manual being sent to me by Caveman, BMW told me that this emergency release ISNT on the late 2006 on BMW Mini Models.

I explained that the link for the manual tells me (I opened up the area for the 2007 BMW Mini Hardtop on) that there is showing a diagram and instruction for accessing the emergency release.

I'm stumped!........
